REVIEW

This haunted house has a definite Disney feel to it. It is great for all ages. There are not parts that are too scary. There are a couple jumpy parts, but nothing that brings out real fear.

The set is fun but not realistic enough for me. I like to be drawn into the environment. I felt like I was walking through and just observing. I did not feel any interaction.

I saw the same actors the whole time. The two main characters had roles but the others were not the best. They change the set a little bit each year. Some of my favorite parts were replaced with not-so-great effects. I liked the snow cave in the past. The wall with TV eyes could have been done differently to make it scarier.

Overall it is still fun, not very scary but fun. The costume shop is fun to look around before or after the haunt. It is definitely Halloween time at this location. You can feel the fun. I probably would not take my friends here; this is not my type of haunted house.

PROS

Great set and design

CONS

Not scary, needs more actors

REVIEW

This haunt is in a prop shop (Reinke Bros.), so it's only logical that the scenery and props are excellent. I like the different atmosphere in the rooms throughout the haunt. The biggest problem I noticed was that many of the props/animatronics activated too early to be effective. Only the first person in the group was able to fully experience the flying head over the bed, for example. That's probably just a matter of timing that could easily be fixed. As the third or fourth person in our group, I seemed to enter the room just as the prop was resetting.

I really like the use of different materials, such as foam, wood, and fabrics. I think the most disturbing room was the eyeball room...you'll just have to see for yourself. My favorite is still the train...seems I always go through with Rob and he's always the victim in that scare!

There are not many actors, virtually none in the beginning. Overall, I feel like the haunt started out slow with lots of eye candy and a few props. Near the end, the scares were a little more intense and the action picked up and it built to a nice ending. This is not the scariest haunt, but definitely above the scare factor of, as some have mentioned, The Haunted Mansion at Disney. There are no fun-loving hitchhiking ghosts in this Haunted Mansion!

PROS

Awesome-looking props, great sets, a few good scares

CONS

Mistimed props, not many actors

REVIEW

The Reinke Bros. have a great store and lend many of their props to their haunted house. They do a good job in set design and a consistent theme of a haunted mansion (although the toxic waste room didn't fit in). The gigantic 15-foot animatronic Troll creature outside the haunt is worth seeing even if you're just visiting the store. The other animatronics inside the haunt are basic and are not really scary.

A few creative rooms such as the bat room (red eyes everywhere!), spinning vortex, and slanted rooms are present. One thing I liked especially was that they had a lot of full size dummy serial killers from the movies, and it's hard to tell if they are real or not. Turns out one of my favorites comes to life to stalk you through the whole haunt. This haunt is excellent for kids, but if you're older you might be a bit bored.

PROS

Props, best Michael Myers costume ever

CONS

Too short, for kids, animatronics not scary

REVIEW

Good old school haunted house! This is should be the first haunted house every kid visits. It's not too scary and it makes for a fun family outing.

If you're looking for a hardcore scare this is not the place for you, but if your kids can handle Black Bart's Cave and are looking for a step up in the word of haunts this is the best haunt for you. The length is about right and I think the props get the effect they were intended to. There are some creative uses of spaces and lots of things popping out at you throughout the tour.

If you want your kids to experience a one-of-a-kind, old school haunted house (like the one from the carnival) or you want to relive your youth if you're older, the Haunted Mansion is for you. To top it off, the costume shop and magic show make this a good family value and pretty inexpensive entertainment.

PROS

Great classic-style haunt, fun, very entertaining

CONS

Not at all scary (for grown ups)

REVIEW

This haunt is an oldie but goodie for me. It reminds me of something that might be seen in an amusement park or an episode of Scooby Doo. Although I felt that it got away from the mansion theme several times, there are things I definitely like about this one.

There are lots of rooms to explore, and they all have something to offer either visually, or with the help of actors or props. I never feel like I'm getting shortchanged on the length of this one.

There were areas that seemed to rely solely on animatronics for their scare, and that was disappointing as there was not enough background noise to mask the sound of them. And the timing seemed a bit off on some of them. That aside, they did a good job with the majority of the rooms here.

Makeup and costumes were good, but I was disappointed that there were only 4 actors in the entire haunt. They did manage to get me a couple of times, though.

If you haven't seen this haunt, I think it's a good one to add to your list.

PROS

Overall theme, sets/props

CONS

Needed more actors and better background noises

REVIEW

After being greeted in line by the giant screeching alien waving his arms and holding some poor soul's skeletal remains I knew the Reinke Brothers put a lot of effort into their sets.

The Haunted Mansion has detail at every turn. Some of my favorites include a room filled with watching eyes, precarious ancient archways and a boiling tub of bloody bones. The animatronic creatures in the Haunted Mansion outnumber actual live actors and for me that warrants only a decent scare factor.

I also discovered that unlike some haunts, this is not one that requires opening doors, so if you visit the Haunted Mansion there's no need to fiddle with door knobs. All in all, I think moderate scares and creepy sets make this a great haunt for the younger crowd and families.

PROS

Moderate scare factor for kids, really good sets

CONS

Few actors, not enough scares for me

REVIEW

The Haunted Mansion gets my award for being the best family haunt in Colorado. Young children might still be too frightened, but bigger kids who want to go to a haunted house but aren't quite ready for anything too traumatic will find plenty here to get the adrenaline flowing.

The Reinke Brothers are masters of set design, and everything in this haunt has a fun, campy/kitschy feel that makes me nostalgic for the days when haunted houses could fascinate as well as scare. There's plenty to see here, even if some of the concepts are a little overused and the animatronics a little obvious. And then there's the train, which gets me every single year, even though I know it's coming.

If you haven't been, this haunt is pretty good. And if you've got a group who thinks they're ready for a good scare, but you don't want to overload them, the Haunted Mansion is a great place to go.

PROS

Fun sets, classic scares

CONS

Could use more actors

REVIEW

This haunt is suitable and would be fun for kids or those who don't like really bad scares. Most of the set and props consist of animatronics. Some of them were pretty cool looking, but it just isn't that scary when one can see the sensor on the floor with tape around it knowing if it's stepped on, the prop will go off. The swaying pillars were pretty sweet, though.

There were some pretty cool scenes. The bat room was a great idea - totally dark except for all these bat eyes looking at you and flying around. The eye room was yet another freaky idea, however, I felt that they could have done a lot more with this room. For instance, the lights that were eyes didn't look realistic at all, and they were just strung along the wall. However, this room was fun, but not quite the scare I was looking for. Other cool ideas were the car horn and the vortex tunnel.

My biggest disappointment in this haunt was found in the acting. First of all, there were only a few actors throughout the whole haunt who ran from scene to seen trying to create scares. Get more actors!

Secondly, actors should fit the part that they're playing. One actor had a visible microphone attached to her head to do scary voices throughout the haunt. You're not going to frighten me when I can see you talking through the microphone! Also, their wardrobe should correspond to their role; i.e. don't wear jeans and polo and squirt a little fake blood on them. The length was a little short for my taste in haunts.

Overall, some great ideas and props, but lacking in other areas.

PROS

Great props, some cool set ideas

CONS

Acting needs work, needs bigger scares and more length
