REVIEW

Beautiful. I hope that’s not an insult, because this haunt is just, plain gorgeous. There is so much attention to detail, I wish it wasn’t scary at all so I could spend more time staring (actually I later learned you can do the not-scary-lights-on-how-it-works tours early in the morning on the weekends). From inside jokes (you gotta find them yourself) to amazing animatronics (just check out the monster outside and I’ll bet you go in) this haunt was like I fell out of the car and into Industrial Light and Magic. Room after room, the Haunted Mansion proves its name is a misnomer. This isn’t a mansion, it’s a series of haunted worlds.

Wait. Before I waste a ton of time talking about how stunning the costumes/props/sets are, I need to say this haunt can also deliver on the scare. While you shouldn’t expect the chainsaw gore of other haunts, there are certainly places that will spook the young and old, experienced and novice alike. That said, this haunt is more geared toward families and special effects fans than real nightmare gore freaks. But I have to say, I’d be hard pressed to say I had more fun anywhere else. And the sweet costume shop that houses the haunt is pretty rad too.

PROS

Beautiful, intricate set and FX

CONS

A little more cool than scary

REVIEW

Wow! I'm even more impressed with this haunt than last year. Whether you've been to Reinke Bros" Haunted Mansion before or not, I think you'll be pleased. The thing I like most about this haunt is the eye candy: my eyes never got bored! They've added some great new effects, one of my favorites being the "Dead Man's Party" scene: you'll just have to experience it to understand.

Many of the scenes have nothing to do with a haunted mansion, but the way all the effects are presented, I didn't care! Usually I like haunts to have a theme, but what this one lacks in continuity, it makes up for with total immersion. What does a bat cave full of red-eyed critters have to do with a haunted mansion? Nothing...but it's such a cool effect that I wasn't worried about the loss of the theme.

I felt the length was perfect because it seemed to go on for quite some time. Whenever we thought we were nearing the end, some other feast for the eyes would spring up. I think our group stopped and actually applauded twice for the effects! I also liked that they poked fun at themselves – and other haunts I suppose – when a dummy (which is sold in the Reinke Bros' store) was yelling, "Product placement, product placement" at us!

This haunt was very enjoyable and less "Disney-esque" than last year, though they do a lights-on tour for little ones and scaredy cats on the weekends. I really enjoyed myself!

PROS

Lots of eye candy and well-done effects

CONS

Not super scary, if that's what you're looking for

REVIEW

Reinke Brothers have always had a knack for set design and they pull no punches this year. How they fit this seemingly long haunt into their property is amazing in itself, it’s like you walk into another world and get lost. They use so many different materials for building their sets and the change from room to room is so seamless you don’t even notice at first.
Walking through this haunt, they have so much machinery and animatronics that it sounds like you’re in a clock tower. Prepare to see some really new cool effects that they have worked hard on all year to bring to their patrons. They had plenty of actors inside this time, which I feel was a change from last year. My favorite, of course, being Mike Myers popping out throughout the haunt to scare the living daylights out of you.

Most of the haunt isn’t as scary as it is just plain cool. Take your time walking through to notice some of the more subtle jokes throughout (Jar Jar Bink’s head in the meat locker room, Toto on a rotating spit over a fire for those Wizard of Oz fans). They utilize the Pepper’s Ghost effect a few times and with effectiveness.  The ice cave room is creative as is the Pompeii, jester, insane asylum, train stop, falling walls, tool shed, and slanted wall rooms. I’m glad that they kept the bat cave room with all those little red gleaming eyes staring down at you. Watch overhead!

The best effect they pull off (not to get into too much detail) is the dancing skeletons room. This one had our whole team floored and proves that these guys know their special effects and have a limitless imagination. This haunt is still good to bring younger children through while having the adults still have a wonderful time.

PROS

Awesome props and effects, well timed scares

CONS

Scare intensity a little lacking compared to other haunts

REVIEW

WOWEE!!!!! Okay, maybe I have rated this one a bit high for scare factor and acting. I thought both were really good, but then again, this was only my 4th haunted house ever!  The overall experience was so totally kick-a** that I was giddy with sensory overload when I walked out of there. I wanted at least 2 more trips through because I know there was so much I missed.

In the courtyard before I even entered the Mansion, the visual feast begins. I don’t think even my attention to detail is enough to absorb all this place has to offer! Being an all purpose art freak, it boggles my mind the labor and creativity that went into this attraction! I can feel the love oozing out of every moldy skeleton, decayed corpse, and dismembered body. The care bestowed on every little batwing, every crack and crevice; it warms my intestines.

There are soooooo many rooms and scenes in this Mansion; the polka-dot room, the spinning tunnel, ice caves, dancing skeletons, meat locker, bat cave, Pompeii, a twisted Wizard of Oz scene, the funeral home, and so much more. I began to wonder as we wound our way through if the Reinke Brothers had discovered some secret to folding space and time, as it felt to me like it would never end.

This is definitely a good haunt for those who are faint of heart, or who; like me, get a charge out of props, sets, and design. We were even told they do a “lights on” run on weekend days I think, for the little ones, to show them how it all works.

PROS

A visual feast…to the point of making eyes gluttonous!

CONS

A little more interaction from actors and/or sets would be good.

REVIEW

The Reinke brothers have outdone themselves this year! The Haunted Mansion is always on my must see list, but this year was incredible! The changes have raised the bar and elevated this haunt to an amazing new level! This attraction is so much more than a haunted house. The entertainment level here is amazing! The sets and props are very well done, and there is never a dull moment here!

From the second I walked in the door, it was a non-stop thrill ride that had my full attention. There are some great scares here and the places that aren’t so scary are so well done that you are captivated on a whole new level. If you are looking for a blood and guts slash-fest with little else to offer, this isn’t it. If, on the other hand you are looking for a high quality, professional haunt that is enjoyable in every way imaginable, this is the one for you!

The attention to detail this year made me stop dead in my tracks so I could take it all in. You are transformed into another world here and reality goes on hiatus. Don’t rush this one, or you will miss some amazing genius at work. I couldn’t possibly describe this haunt without giving it all away, but the snow cave, bat cave, holograms, flying ghost, dancing skeletons, and the Wizard of Oz scenes were just a few of my favorites.

This attraction has something for all ages and tastes; they have a lights on matinee for the younger kids that is less intense, and the full show for the older groups. The entertainment is top notch for the price of admission, and they never close early, everyone gets through the house. If you are only going to do one or two houses this year, make sure you see this one, it rocks!!

REVIEW

These guys blew me away! They’re like the Walt Disney of haunted houses. I would never have thought there was a haunted house this big and this long in the back of the little shop . The thought that they put into it was great. I have never been introduced to so many ideas in one haunted house. I loved how the theme stuck and the haunt always had something waiting for me.There were defiantly In your face scares.

Some times I was caught off-guard by the same actor on multiple occasions. I loved how I was waved around the many corners and something was waiting for me on the other side. The Dancing Skeleton room was one of my favorites. They had some rooms that made me laugh and others that made me wonder. I think this is one of the best hunts that I have been to in a long time, and they have so much to offer even magic while you’re waiting! Don’t forget to keep your eye out for the huge animatronics in the house.

PROS

I loved everything about this Haunt

REVIEW

This haunt really amazed me.  I can tell that a lot of work went into making this haunt as great as it was.  They utilize the small amount of space they have really well.  Their props, sets, and special effects are just so creative; I haven't seen some of these things at other haunts.  There is always something to look at in this haunt.  That's not always a good characteristic to have in a haunt, but they did such a good job with it, and I can't complain about how it turned out.  There were only a few different actors, but what they had were really good and they had some pretty good scares too.  Length was perfect.  There were a few things in this haunt that made me laugh out loud as well.  I love a haunt that doesn't take itself too seriously.  This was a genuinely fun haunt!

PROS

FUN!

CONS

A few more actors and a few bigger scares.

REVIEW

This is a haunt you should definitely check out. You can even bring your whole family during the day for a reduced rate non-scary haunt with the lights turned on! The sets are amazingly detailed and thorough. Going to Haunted Mansion is like being on a movie set. It is gorgeous, intriguing, fascinating, beautiful, impressive and even sometimes a little scary!

Haunted Mansion wasn’t the scariest haunt I’ve ever been too, but there were some really well placed actors who understood timing and subtlety in a way that created a great moment!  I was caught off-guard on multiple occasions by those actors who were well hidden and took advantage of the distracting scenic elements to scare me. The actors were also persistent, which I appreciate. They didn’t give up and made sure to follow me and get in the face of other members in my group if when I didn’t appear to be unnerved.

Above all else this is a haunt with WOW FACTOR. It is incredibly well built, with lots of interesting visuals and unique sets. There are some really unexpected and impressive rooms that I just stopped and stared in. The Deadman’s Party was wonderful. I also loved the creative moments that gave some insight into the creators. Specifically seeing Jar Jar Binks in this Haunt made me feel involved in some sort of inside joke, which was great!

PROS

AMAZING movie quality sets & long too!
