This haunt is nasty and disgusting in a very good way. They are one of the first haunted houses in Denver to really be repulsive. The smells they use are foul and took my breath away. We walked through bugs and snakes. At one point I felt a slimy worm or something fall on my head (which has no hair).
The set was put together very well. There were things on the walls, ceiling, and the floor. It was creepy! It was so short, though. It seemed like we walked in and walked right back out. It was disgusting and I'm not sure how much more I could take.
The actors were not very good. There weren't very many and there wasn't any interaction. I give mad props to the guy in the bathroom. I couldn't take more than five seconds and he was chillin' in the floor all night. This haunt would have rocked if it would have been longer and had more intense acting.
I would go back to this haunt. Even though it is short, it is good.
Awesome set, creepy smells and bugs
Way too short; not enough actors
This haunt definitely lives up to its name! The Sick and Twisted Zone was a collection of gross-out scenes that were really over the top. As we approached one of the first rooms, I made the comment that it smelled like cookies, then we entered the tiled hall with cockroaches all over the walls and the kitchen. The floor was covered in "cockroaches," too (peanut shells, I'm guessing...sadly NOT cookies). The strobe light added to the effect. One room had severed heads that pretty much smacked us in the face as we passed through. I knew we were in trouble when there was a sign that read, "Caution: Snakes." I was truly frightened by the 13-foot tall men (the team is still trying to figure out how tall they actually were). Of course, the pièce de résistance (that's the "outstanding accomplishment" to those who don't speak French or pretend to like I do) was the bathroom scene. Now I can finish this sentence, "If I see one more bathroom scene in a haunt, I'll __________!" I'll take, "What is vomit?" for $1,000 please, Alex.
I wish there had been a few more actors in this haunt to sort of fill out the gross parts here and there. Both the Sick and Twisted Zone and the Alien Zone are lacking in actors and I think the creators are on track to be a really good double feature if they flesh it out a bit with more people. Also, this Zone was a little too short, though the team debated whether some of us could take much more...ahem, Rob.
Great gross-out scenes, the tall "nightmare men", crunchy cockroaches!
Too short, not enough scenes, not enough actors
They will hand out barf bags at this haunt - and you will need them. In fact, we were told that one girl had actually vomited in her hands the opening night. This haunt received near perfect scores from me due to its ability to utterly shock and disturb. There was an onslaught of visual and auditory nastiness that might send you running to the shower afterwards. This haunt will make you feel really dirty - but you'll love every minute of it. The F/X were well orchestrated and the timing was excellent.
This was an extremely dark and claustrophobic haunt as well - which always gets me disoriented. The cockroach room and dirty kitchen was just vile, body parts room was horrific, hanging severed heads truly gruesome, and the GIGANTIC 12-foot creatures are just really well-constructed.
The bathroom scene is the clincher and will disturb me for many nights to come. The smells alone in this haunt kept me gagging on the car ride home.
P.S. Keep your mouth closed.
Shocking, original, extreme imagery
Way too short, need to make this haunt longer
The name pretty much says it all, this was indeed a sick and twisted haunt! Have you ever been to a place so dirty that you had to go home and take a shower? A place so filthy your scalp began to itch imagining that germs and perhaps even lice have made a home on your head? A place that smells so bad that you reek of the stench until you have scrubbed your skin and washed your clothes? If not, then prepare to be grossed out; if so, than get ready to relive the moment because this is how you will feel touring this haunt.
Best of all is that all the filth, smell, and grime are simulated and you won't get head lice... though you will feel like you did. Sick and Twisted uses techniques and approaches that are unlike any other haunts. If you suffer from emetophobia (the fear of vomiting) or mysophobia (the fear of dirt and germs) then stay far away, but if you like to be grossed out perhaps this would be a good choice for you.
My only complaint is that it was way too short, next year they should lengthen it by at least double.
New haunt technology, lives up to name, lots of sick fun!
Far too short, a smell to gag a cow!
This haunt definitely lives up to its name! It is sick and twisted throughout.
This is a very short haunt, and that was disappointing, but what is there was worth it to me. There were scenes that were very authentic, and while this attraction was not very scary in terms of monsters, it was very real in the way I was creeped out. They used tactics here to get to us that were out of the ordinary. They played on the things that I find disgusting and appalling to get me, and in some places they almost got me too well. The smells alone were unbelievable, and really added to the experience. Cockroaches, body parts, severed heads, snakes and slimy things make up this haunt.
The HUGE guy midway through was amazing, I loved this actor and his costume! And I will not give away the scene near the end, but it is beyond disgusting, and will make you run out of that room screaming! I enjoyed the actors and props in this haunt, but again wished it had been longer. There were also places that could have used more actors.
If you're sick and twisted, and like being grossed out, this one is for you!
Unique sets/scares, actors
Way too short, ends too abruptly
So if you've never vomited in a haunted house this could be your opportunity.
Sick and Twisted Zone is just as the name suggests and probably not for those with squeamish stomachs. The initial cockroach experience is mild compared to your final gross out scare and the buildup to it is fantastic. Dark corridors filled with snakes, slime, and grime made me nervous and excited. The combination of subtle methods of making the skin crawl and some really awesome effects like a 15-foot monster from the River Styx resulted in a wonderfully scary haunt.
I think every sense was utilized in this haunt and I was bombarded not just by the sights, but also the smells which were so intense you could taste them, creepy ambient sounds and a disturbing combination of feelings under your feet, hands and on your head!
Seriously, if it weren't for the too short length this would be one of my top recommendations. If you can shell out the $20, go to this one and Alien Terror. They're totally different and I enjoyed both.
Totally different type of scare, gross, cool fx, solid acting
Too short, could cause vomiting
Holy crap. Somebody finally built the haunted house I've been wishing somebody would build for years.
It takes a lot to scare me. The tactics used by other haunts (chainsaws, kids in masks) don't usually scare me. But bugs, snakes, worms, feces, and vomit freak me out. This haunt got a perfect 10 from me in the Scare Factor category, and that should tell you something.
I have to admit I went into the Sick and Twisted Zone with pretty low expectations, simply because the name sounded cool and I couldn't imagine somebody would really take the gross-out, Fear Factor element to an extreme. This place does. For the first time ever, in my lifetime of going to haunted houses all over the country, I literally thought I was going to puke by the time this haunt was over. I couldn't believe it, and I was impressed.
The only complaint, and the only area where I deducted from the score, was the length. It's too short. Everything else was perfect.
I'm bringing friends back to this haunt, only I'm not going to tell them what they're in for ahead of time. I'll let them figure it out when they receive their barf bag upon entry.
Awesomely disturbing and gross
Short
I didn't think it was possible to be extremely scared and extremely grossed out at the same time, but this haunt proved me wrong. This haunt got at us from a different direction than most haunts. It played on the biologically disgusting and repulsing factor a lot, and it worked excellently. Not only did it freak us out by using popular animal phobias such as snakes, worms, and spiders, it played on the fears that people have about the human side of nature. The props that were used to create a terrified state of being were awesome.
I don't want to ruin anything because for all haunt connoisseurs, this haunt is a definite must see, but I will say that I was so scared and so grossed out that I was grasping onto the person in front of me so tightly (Jason) that I almost ripped his shirt!
The only thing that really sucked about this haunt was the length. It was way too short. I would have been pretty much satisfied if it lasted a little longer. The only other thing I would add is a few more actors. If these changes were made, it would have gotten a perfect score for sure!
Regardless, I recommend that everyone go see this haunt...if you think you can handle it. :)
